Why not just use a gel?
A gel gives you carbs. That’s it. You still need electrolytes, and you still need water to wash it down.
NOBONK is the same 30g of carbs, already dissolved in 200ml of water, with the full electrolyte panel. Fuel and fluid land together — no chaser, no sludge.
| Comparison | A gel | NOBONK |
|---|---|---|
| Carbs | Yes | 30g — 20g glucose + 10g fructose, the 2:1 ratio |
| Electrolytes | Usually minimal | 250mg sodium, 114mg potassium, 35mg magnesium, 30mg calcium |
| Water needed | Yes, a chaser | No — it is 200ml of fluid |
| Texture | Thick — sickly sticky | Liquid — easy to drink on the run |
Product & formula
Why not just use a sports drink?
Most sports drinks are electrolytes with a sprinkle of sugar — to get 30g of carbs you'd need to skol more than half a litre, every half hour. NOBONK packs the full serve into 200ml, so you can actually keep it up for a whole race.
Will it upset my stomach?
For most people, no. The 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio uses two separate gut transporters, so carbs clear your stomach faster than glucose alone — and because it's already liquid, there's nothing thick to sit there.
But your gut is a muscle — it needs training too. If you rock up on race day and take three sachets back-to-back having never tried the product before, your stomach might have some thoughts about that. Start simple: first run, try one sachet and see how you feel. Over the following weeks, build up to the number of serves you'll need on race day. Your gut will adapt, and by the time the gun goes off you'll know exactly how your body handles it. Don't experiment on race day. Ever.
What does it actually taste like?
Clean taste, not syrup. Pineapple Mango is bright and tropical; Grape is the grape you remember, but cleaner — no artificial aftertaste. Sweet enough to look forward to at hour three, never sickly.
What's in a serve?
30g carbohydrates (20g glucose + 10g fructose), sodium 250mg, potassium 114mg, magnesium 35mg, calcium 30mg. Full ingredients for both flavours are in the panel above and on every pack.
Is it vegan or gluten-free?
We don't make dietary claims: NOBONK is packed in a facility that also processes wheat, gluten, milk, soy, tree nuts and fish. Check the full ingredients list and get in touch before ordering if you have an allergy.
Usage
How do I use it?
Mix one sachet with 200ml of water and take one serve every 30 minutes during sustained exercise.
How many serves do I need?
One every 30 minutes: a 90-minute session is 3 serves, a 3–4 hour marathon is 6–8. Two 4-packs covers race day with a spare.
Should I drink water as well as NOBONK?
Yes. NOBONK replaces your gel and your electrolytes — it doesn't replace water. Each sachet mixes with 200ml, so you're already getting some fluid in, but a mouthful from an aid-station bubbler or your bottle is still a good idea, especially on hot days or long efforts. Think of it this way: NOBONK handles the fuel, water handles the hydration. Both have a job to do.
Why only up to 6 serves per day? What if I need more for a long race?
Short answer: you can take more if your race demands it.
The “up to 6 serves” you see on the packet is there because of our sodium content. NOBONK is classified as a Formulated Supplementary Sports Food (FSSF) under Australian food standards — and that classification, driven largely by our high carbohydrate profile, requires us to display a recommended daily limit based on sodium intake. It's a labelling requirement. It doesn't cap what your body can handle during a big effort. Many electrolyte drinks sit under a different classification and can recommend higher sodium amounts without the same restriction; because we combine high carbs with full electrolytes in one product, we land in the FSSF category and have to reflect that guidance on the label.
In practice, if you're four hours into a race and you need a seventh sachet, take it. Your sodium needs during sustained endurance effort are well above everyday guidelines anyway. Train with the product, know how your body responds, and fuel to the demands of your day.
Do I need the flask?
Any bottle with 200ml of water works. The flask just makes the maths automatic: one flask, one serve.
